So there has to be a "right way" to eat no? With all the research and literature out there right now, we have to have the answer right? Kinda...not really. Have you heard the word bio-individuality before? You're like uhhhhh no.....that's okay. I didn't either until I got my certification as an integrative nutritionist. Basically what this means is that we all have different needs and nutritional requirements and this can evolve or change. Sometimes it's challenging to eat healthy, but it's a lot more simplistic than you think. I opted to not do the long obnoxious introduction before I just give it to ya....so here it goes!
1.) We know more now- so even though the information out there is overwhelming, we are learning more now about new research and scientific evidence out there in regards to nutritional requirements. Podcasts are my jam.
2.) Availability- Farmers Markets, organic produce, and health foods are becoming more and more popular. I'ts actually "cool" if you hit up local stores and markets to get your fresh fruits and vegetables.
3.) Health coaches galore- there are many influences and health coaches out there to help. (careful with credentials) You can find people who know their s#@! who want to help you feel better and teach you the necessary tools to make healthier choices.
4.) Processed foods are not as prevalent- knowing what we know about packaged foods, refined sugars and carbs, most places offer healthier/better options. Careful with labels and ingredients, but we have better options now than ever before.
5.) You are in control- even though we have days, you ultimately make the decisions. You are the one that goes to the store, purchases what you want, and gets up off the couch to eat. So, in reality the control is in your hands. You can be healthy, you can make good choices, deep down you know what's right vs. wrong.
So, do what you can...when you can.
