So, I have a fun post for you guys. It's kinda different than my normal thought process. I'm not going to go into everything that's going on because to be honest it kind of annoys me for multiple reasons. That's another post for another time. Right now I just want to help. I want to help you guys feel good. So today's blog is about ways to take care of you at home that are cost effective and easy to do. Who would have thought we would have ever had this time to slow down and take care of ourselves? I certainly didn't, but it's kind of nice that I do have the extra time. It's not like I have hours to just pamper myself. Not with a full time job of online teaching, being a present mother, and an oh so fabulous wife ;-)

So today I am going to share with you five things that I have implemented into my self-care routine that are not expensive and have really helped me feel good. Again, not a doctor, not saying these are cures for any health conditions you may be experiencing, but they have helped me these last few weeks feel somewhat normal. Okay, no more ranting, I hate those posts where the people verbal vomit for paragraphs and never get to the point, so here we go!!!!!

Number 1: Foam Rolling: I just ordered a mini version of a foam roller the other day from Amazon. It has been wonderful late night when I'm playing with my daughter on the floor. I have used it for my back, missing my chiro mucho, my quads, my shoulders, my tailbone, and my abdomen, that can sometimes get inflamed due to food or pms, you know.... It has been a super cheap and critical component in maintaining my sanity the last month. If you don't have one, please please go get one now. Amazon has some great prices and they're all about the same quality. Mine is pink because I love pink.

Right....

Number 2: My at home facial mask. So I invested in some bentonite clay thinking I would take it internally and would it would help get rid some bad bugs or bacteria in the gut. Turns out, you can add some water to it and it makes it a gooey clay mask. I did it today and oh damnnnnn. My skin was as smooth as a baby's butt. I know because I have a small human lol. Seriously though. It was $11.00 for the whole bag which will last me a year. It felt AMAZING! I will definitely be making that part of my weekly skin-care routine. I think about all those masks out there that are soooooooo expensive. I'm like clay and water and cheap and done. It felt incredible. Just Do it.... Nike style.

Number 3: Spike Mat. Wait what? I know super weird. So, it's this acupressure mat that has spikes sticking out of it. They kinda look like little golf cleats glued to a mat....Super weird, but according to the people I've been following on the infamous IG, it's really good for circulation, pain and muscle tension, stress relief, energy, and it can improve sleep quality. I just started using it so the verdict is still out. I used to visit my acupuncturist and chiropractor frequently as preventive medicine and obviously that's not an option right now, so this 20 dollar purchase again on Amazon is gonna help out tremendously. Gotta improvise at this point right?

Number 4: Dry Brushing. Wow. Okay but, wow. So I'm pretty sure I have a gene that inhibits me from detoxing by myself. I need some additional interventions. It's called the MTHFR mutation. I'm not sure, but I speculate....any who...I don't sweat when I work out. The point to this inarticulate rant, is that since I've been dry brushing the last three days after my shower and I've been sweating during my morning workouts. Miraculous. I follow a woman by the name of Lisa Levitt Gainsely who has some great videos on her Instagram account that shows you a.) why you need to dry brush and b.) how to do it the right way. With dry brushing you can actually increase circulation, it stimulates the lymphatic system (detox pathway) it can eliminate toxins, aid in digestion, and improve cellulite. Anyway, I love it. Not expensive at all. You just need a specific dry brush and the internet to watch a few videos.

Number 5: Hot Foot Bath. So you know when you go and get a massage at those Asian places for like 30 bucks? You know what I'm talking about...I love and miss those places terribly. That is the best massage I've ever had. My husband and I would go like once a month for maintenance purposes. They really know how to get deep into those tissues and initiate that lymphatic drainage. Any-who...I digress...shocking...remember how they put your feet into a hot bath or basket of water? I mean sure it's probably because people smell nasty AF, but it's also for another purpose. A hot foot bath can relieve muscle and mental tension, can alleviate stress, increase white blood cell activity, and boost our immune system. Again something that costs practically nothing that you can do daily in your casita.

So there it is folks. Five cheap and easy way to really prioritize you and your health during this uncertain and stressful time. I know nutrition and exercise are huge. I go on and on about on my Instagram account. I'm sure I annoy many. That is a huge part of the puzzle, but this helps too. I hope this finds you and finds you well.

Enjoy you, enjoy your time, and stay well.

These are great suggestions. Self-care is so needed right now... the facial and foot bath are right up my alley!
